- Step 1:First, enable the IMAP on your Gmail account to access the IMAP email server settings.
- Step 2:To enable IMAP in Gmail, open your web browser, and access your email server page.
- Step 3:Enter your Gmail address and password to log in to your Gmail account.
- Step 4:Click on the Settings icon displayed on the top-right corner.
- Step 5:Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab on the displayed window and select Enable IMAP for all mail in the IMAP Access column.
- Step 6:Click Save changes and log out from your Gmail account.
- Step 7:Now, IMAP is enabled for your Gmail account, and you need to configure the IMAP settings on your email client.
- Step 8:The default Gmail IMAP settings are given below:
- The incoming mail(IMAP) server is imap.gmail.com.
- The Secure Sockets Layer(SSL) is the standard security technology used for Gmail.
- The Port number is 993 by default.
- The outgoing mail(SMTP) server is smtp.gmail.com. SMTP also requires SSL and TLS(if available).
- The authentication port for SSL is 465 and TLS is 587.
- Step 9:After registering the necessary details, select the Test Account Settings on your mail client to check the server connection settings.
